Why this scene should happen in Avengers Infinity War

This is the first in a series that I am starting called Why?! I take topics and give my opinion on why I think something should happen or just talking about a topic. For example why this character is great or why this scene should happen.

Today I am talking about this scene should happen in Avengers Infinity War. This is from the comic Infinity Gauntlet, basically Captain America is standing up to Thanos.

Thanos has the Infinity Gauntlet with all 6 of the Infinity Gems and knowing this Captain America stands up to Thanos knowing full well he could end up dying. To me this is one of my favorite Captain America moments ever because he sees this Alien who is capable of destroying anything he wishes and Cap doesn’t back down or run away.

Captain America stands by his principles and won’t let anyone bully the smaller man, won’t let anyone tell others what to do. He is willing to give his life to stand by his principles and to stand by the sentiments he lives by, he even says as much in the comic as well. Proving that the bigger man will never win while there are others even just once person standing up to him, he says “As long as one man stands against you, Thanos, you’ll never be able to claim victory” He knows that full well this alien could kill him right there and then yet he doesn’t let that come in the way of his principles. Thanos replies with “Noble sentiments from one who is about to die.” Yet Steve Rogers isn’t going to drop down.

This takes me back to the scene we have seen twice now, in the first Captain America film the First Avenger he tells a man who is insulting the military while in a cinema and the man is quite literally three times the size of Steve and we see this man beat Steve down, does that stop Steve? No he keeps getting up and won’t let anyone keep him down because doing that gives them the satisfaction of winning but if he keeps going then they can’t claim they won without a fight. This is the same as in Civil War (Spoilers! Even though it’s in the trailer) when Cap fights Iron man, there is a moment when Tony has beaten Steve and Tony tells him to stay down and Steve stands up saying “I can do this all day” he said this to the man in the First Avenger also, he knows he could lose at any minuet but there is no way he will let them win without putting up a fight. That sums up the Avengers basically, Tony basically said it in the first Avengers film, he says to Loki and it applies to Thanos also “There’s no throne, there is no version of this where you come out on top. Maybe your army comes and maybe its too much for us but its all on you. Cause if we can’t protect the Earth you can be damn sure we’ll avenge it.”

Now I feel like we will get this scene in the film. I am guessing that everyone will be down defeated by Thanos and up stands Captain America and goes toe to to, face to face with the alien who has defeated the Avengers and as he fights Thanos, we see Thor and Iron man, the three main and original avengers (debatable) say “Thanos is going to kill him” or something along them lines.

Steve says “I have lived my life by those statements.” Also “They’re well worth dying for.” Again carrying my sentiments over to what Steve says here, he knows that he will die, knows that there is no way in hell he can take on this alien by himself but he won’t let that stop him from trying. This is why I think this scene will happen after the avengers have been defeated, I think Thanos will have taken on the Marvel Cinematic Universe by himself, maybe having a one on one fight with Hulk and still beat him, then we see Captain America, Steve Rogers a man from Brooklyn, someone who is truly the best ideals of man, stand up to Thanos and say I will stand here and won’t be beaten down into submission.

It is like another favorite moment of mine for Captain America, although they have already used this (Spoilers for Civil War!!) At Peggy Carter’s funeral, Sharon Carter says a variation of these words rather than Captain America but it still stands true to his character and his principles. “Doesn’t matter what the press says. Doesn’t matter what the politicians say or the mobs say. Doesn’t matter if the whole country decides that something wrong is right. This nation was founded on one principle above all else: The requirement that we stand up for what we believe, no matter the odds or the consequences. When the mob and the press and the whole word tell you to move, your job is to plant yourself like a tree beside the river of truth, and tell the whole world … No, you move.” You don’t let someone tell you what to do, if you are right and they say you are wrong you don’t let them move you.

Remember back in the first Avengers film when Loki is in Germany and there is an old man who stands up to Loki after Loki has said “In the end you will always kneel” and the old man says “not to men like you” and Loki replies with “there are no men like me” the old man says “there are always men like you” and Loki goes to kill him but Captain America jumps in the way using his Shield to deflect the attack. That alone is a great scene but when Cap stands up and says “You know the last time I was in Germany and saw a man standing above everybody else, we ended up disagreeing.” This again applies to Steve standing up to Thanos just a bigger example than Hitler but to Captain America there is no difference because they both thought they were better than others and that just isn’t true, it doesn’t matter if it is a small example or as big as Hitler and Thanos, Cap will always have the same views.

Again I think this scene will happen. Just look at who is making the film, Joe and Anthony Russo, the directors of Captain America Winter Soldier and Captain America Civil War, they have treat these characters with such care and respect. They have taken parts of the comics that work and don’t work and adapted them to the big screen.

That is my opinion on why this scene should happen in Avengers Infinity War, tell me if you agree or disagree, tweet me, go to my Facebook and leave a comment or just leave a comment here on the post, thanks and I hope to see you again.
